For many years the drug companies have been taking advantage of the un control area of marking up the price of drugs in order to make huge profits all at the expense of the people who need drugs the most for example the seniors who are on a limited income, needs insulin and cannot afford them. These companies plainly stated do nothing but take advantage of the system for one reason and one reason only PROFITS $$$$$
The question is when is Congress going to do something about this and make the drug companies finally lower their prices so that everyone can afford them. These companies are making billions of dollars in profit every year and it’s time for them to give some back to the people who need these drugs to live. It’s just not right that these companies can get away with this and Congress just sits back and does nothing.
So what is it going to take for Congress to finally act on this issue ????
Is it going to take people dying because they can’t afford the drugs or is it going to take a class-action lawsuit against these companies, either way, something needs to be done and done soon.
The American people cannot continue to be taken advantage of by these drug companies any longer, it’s just not right !!!!!!!” This week, Biden called for capping the price of insulin at $35.00 a month for all Americans in his State of the Union address. He also said that Medicare should be able to negotiate prices with drug manufacturers, something that is not currently allowed. You should ask yourself why this is not allowed. Drug companies have a strong lobby.
This would help Medicare’s 63.3 million beneficiaries most of whom are 65 and older limits their out-of-pocket drug spending which could mean saving thousands of dollars for people who are already on a limited income. This is currently just hope and not sure whether Congress will address this matter.
In the meantime, there are a few things you can do to help lower your out-of-pocket costs for insulin. You can:
–See if you qualify for programs like the Lilly Cares Foundation or the Novo Nordisk Patient Assistance Program (PAP). These programs provide free or discounted insulin to people who cannot afford it.
–Look for coupons or discount cards online. You can also ask your pharmacist if there are any manufacturer’s coupons or patient assistance programs available.
–Buy insulin from a Canadian pharmacy. Insulin is much cheaper in Canada than it is in the United States.
