Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Are Reconsidering, Increase To Part B Premiums In 2021

Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra is reviewing the Part B premium increase. In 2021 the Part B for most Medicare beneficiaries was $148.50 and the increase made it $170. The reason for the increase is because the Center for Medicare and Medicaid stated that Biogen the drug manufacture set a price for a drug at $56,000 this sparked an outcry from the general population.

So for all of you folks that were confused about what the government did, I understand your frustration, first, they give you a COPA raise and behind the scene, they take it away from you because some Pharmaceutical company is charging $59,000 for a mediation that just is preposterous and hard to understand. I am sure that big PARMA lobby groups have their influence on some of our politicians. This is not about helping people but big profits for big PHARMA $59,000 for a medication how could they possibly think that the American public would be so naïve. Ok, that is enough of my rant.

In December Biogen cut the price of “Aduhelm” down to $28,000 Secretary Becerra stated that because of the dramatic cut in price on the medication the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service has a “compelling basis to reexamine the Medicare Part B monthly premium increase. Also, it is important that this change would have to be coordinated with Social Security because most people have their Part B deducted automatically from their Social Security benefits.

So for all of you folks that were confused about what the government did, I understand your frustration, first, they give you a COPA raise on your Social Security Benefits and convince the public they are doing a good thing for our seniors, and behind the scenes, they take it away from you because some Pharmaceutical company is charging $59,000 for a mediation that just is preposterous and hard to understand, expecting our Seniors to pay for it. The Government was charging American seniors for a drug that was ridiculously priced so that this PHARMA company “Biogen” can increase their profits at the expense of Seniors on a limited income. How is this allowed in America?

Once the outcry started Biogen decide to drop its price by half. this is evidence that they were gouging the American public. Ok, that is enough of my rant.
